Reading the light

The single biggest factor in whether a plant thrives. Learn to see your rooms the way a plant does.

  • Bright indirect means lots of daylight but no harsh direct sun on the leaves.

  • A north window is gentle; a south window is strong and may need a sheer.

  • If you can read a book comfortably without a lamp, most plants will cope.

  • Yellowing lower leaves often means too little light, not too little water.
